Painting with Purpose

With the support of the Time Bank in cooperation with Johanniter Austria, we spent a “Volunteering Day” at a homeless shelter in Strebersdorf, which is scheduled to open in November this year.

Instead of financing housing, we (Project Financing Housing) spent an entire day working in a shelter for the homeless, setting an example of lived social responsibility. We taped, primed, painted, cleaned—and laughed a lot. By the end of the day, an entire floor of the new Johanniter homeless shelter was shining in beautiful white paint, becoming a brighter and more welcoming place for people in need.

We gained interesting and insightful perspectives into the work of Johanniter and the background of how homelessness can occur. It was a wonderful feeling for all of us to do something good and give back. We also had the valuable experience of realizing that we are a perfect team—even in unfamiliar surroundings.

Many thanks to the Time Bank and our employer for making this special experience possible.
