How a farewell gift becomes a work assignment for a children's hospice
On the occasion of the retirement of our branch manager Georg Posch, the idea was born not to buy him "just any" present, but to give him the most precious gift of all - time together and joy.
Georg Posch is a person who likes to give and is charitably active, and this gave rise to the idea of working at "Sterntalerhof". On the one hand, he transferred the money donated by his colleagues. On the other hand, we actively supported with our time donation: The idea was to spend time together, have fun and do good at the same time. In glorious sunshine, motivated employees made their way to southern Burgenland - their spirits rising with every kilometre. Once we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the team.
Harald Jankovits (chairman of the association) explained the organisation's tasks, the approach to the topic of "Hospice for Children" and the forms of therapy - both for the sick children and their families. And then we got down to work - we were given the task of digging up all the trees and bushes and then providing them with fresh humus. With great enthusiasm, we dug, raked, filled disc chests and lovingly placed the families' decorations in the respective places. The weather was at its best and we worked diligently. After the lunch break, we were given a guided tour of the 5,000 m² site - horse and animal therapy is also a big topic here.We finished our work in the afternoon with renewed vigour. The first muscle cramps and the onset of tiredness were cancelled out by gratitude, humility and joy.
It was an eventful day with many moving impressions, a happy time together and a good feeling on the journey home. A big THANK YOU to the Sterntalerhof team for this experience.
Quote from Daniela Erber, Fil.Siegendorf: "I was very impressed by the entire facility and the team. You can't put a price on the work that is done there.Everything happens there on a different level, the heart and openness are paramount. It was a great honour for me to make a tiny contribution to such a big "cause".Thank you for this day and for creating this project."
